Bringing home-style Taiwanese food to the East Village

Established in 2018, Ho Foods introduced its signature beef noodle soup to the East Village. Inspired by chef & owner Richard Ho’s Taiwanese roots growing up in Southern California, we pay homage to classic flavors and techniques by way of San Gabriel Valley, California, known as the “mecca of Taiwanese food in America.”

We are committed to making food with integrity and quality - from the way we cook, how we treat our customers, staff, and purveyors, and using the freshest ingredients that are sourced locally as much as possible.

About the Chef and Owner

Meet Richard

Richard Ho, the chef and owner of Ho Foods, started his career at the acclaimed Blue Ribbon Sushi Bar & Grill where he eventually became General Manager. After 8 years with Blue Ribbon, he moved on to start Ho Foods, the Taiwanese home-style restaurant he'd always dreamed of opening.

What is Taiwanese Food?

The people of this subtropical island take a lot of pride in its cuisine, which was formed from waves of migration and war. Taiwanese food has several outside culinary influences from Hakka people, an ethnic Han Chinese subgroup with ancestral roots in Southern China, the Fujian region of China, Japan when Taiwan was under Japanese rule, as well as native influences of indigenous Austronesians.
Much of Taiwanese food is rustic, humble, and comforting, featuring the rich agriculture of the island’s climate and abundance of seafood.  Its diversity in influences and deep umami flavors make it distinctly one of a kind.
